FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Common Questions About PAXcel™
PAXcel™ requires a Microsoft 365 subscription (Business, Enterprise, or Education) and an IBM Planning Analytics license (Cloud, Local, or as a Service). For on-premise TM1 servers, the REST API must be enabled via the HTTPPortNumber setting in tm1s.cfg.
PAXcel™ works in Excel Online (browser), Excel Desktop on Windows, and Excel Desktop on Mac. It runs as a modern Office.js web add-in, so it works anywhere Microsoft 365 is supported.
Your Microsoft 365 administrator can deploy PAXcel™ through the admin center (Settings → Integrated apps), or individual users can install it from the Office Add-ins store within Excel. Open Excel, go to the Home ribbon, and click “Add-ins” to search for PAXcel.
PAXcel™ uses Azure Hybrid Connections to reach on-premise TM1 servers without exposing them to the public internet. Your IT administrator configures the Hybrid Connection Manager on a server within your network that has access to the TM1 server.
PAXcel™ supports Native TM1 (Mode 1), CAM/Cognos (Mode 5), IBM Cloud API Key, OAuth 2.0, and OpenID Connect (OIDC). This covers on-premise, cloud, hybrid, and PA 3.x deployments.
No. PAXcel™ acts as a pass-through connection between Excel and your Planning Analytics server. Your data flows directly to your Excel session. PAXcel™ does not persist, cache, or store any Planning Analytics data on its servers.
Email [email protected] with a description of the issue or feature request. For bugs, include the steps to reproduce, any error messages, and which version of Excel and operating system you are using.
